This degree also carries an image from a different and earlier tradition. Charubel, writing in 1898, described a crucifix. It falls in the third decan of Taurus (degrees 21 to 30), and is Taurus's twenty ninth degree. Its decan is ruled by Saturn rather than Venus, which colors the degree with something Taurus does not supply on its own. The narrower term division belongs to Mars, a still finer layer of rulership laid across the sign and decan. Jones's book appeared in 1953, but it is Dane Rudhyar's 1973 reinterpretation, An Astrological Mandala, that is generally quoted today, and its copyrighted wording is withheld from this page.
