The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee operates today as an independent, nonsectarian human rights and humanitarian organization funded primarily through the generosity of Unitarian Universalist congregations and individual members rather than government contracts or foundation grants, a funding structure that ties its budget directly to its own denominational community's ongoing support. Its own audited Internal Revenue Service Form 990 filing, the annual public regulatory disclosure required of most tax exempt organizations in the United States, reported total revenue of about 11.21 million dollars against total expenses of about 14.19 million dollars, and total assets of about 45.23 million dollars, for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025.

That spending funds disaster relief and recovery work alongside grassroots partnerships addressing environmental justice, gender justice, and the rights of refugees and immigrants worldwide, a program mix that keeps the organization's original 1940s refugee mission alive inside a considerably broader human rights mandate built up over the eight decades since its founding. The gap between the year's reported revenue and its reported expenses, spending more than it took in over that fiscal year, is disclosed in the same public filing rather than smoothed over, the kind of detail an audited regulatory disclosure exists specifically to surface.
