Roman Civil Calendar

Solar

The Roman civil calendar is the calendar by which the Roman state dated its months, days and public business, recorded here as distinct from the Roman festival calendar of the Fasti. Wikipedia says the Roman calendar was used by the Roman Kingdom and Roman Republic, and that although the term is primarily used for Rome's pre-Julian calendars, it is often used inclusively of the Julian calendar established by Julius Caesar in 46 BC. It is recorded as its own calendar entity so that the holidays and festivals reckoned by it can be grouped and compared in one place, while each holiday entry keeps its own dating facts and sources.
