Sisters for Christian Community is a contemporary, ecumenical community of religious sisters founded in 1970 by Sister Lillanna Kopp in direct response to the Catholic Church's Second Vatican Council. Members live according to the evangelical vows of poverty, celibacy and obedience within what they regard as a prophetic and ecclesiastical form of consecrated life, but each member is self-supporting and determines her own ministry based on her own calling, training and the community's needs. The community operates through geographical regions spanning 21 nations and makes decisions by consensus at both local and international levels.
