Isaac of Nineveh

Isaac of Nineveh, also known as Isaac the Syrian, Abba Isaac, Isaac Syrus and Isaac of Qatar, was a seventh century Syriac Christian bishop of the Church of the East and theologian who lived from about 613 to about 700, best remembered for his written works on Christian asceticism. He is regarded as a saint in the Church of the East, the Roman Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Syriac Orthodox Church; his feast day falls on January 28, together with the fourth century theologian and hymnographer Ephrem the Syrian, and in the Syriac Orthodox Church his feast day falls on May 14.
