New Ulm is a city in south central Minnesota, on the Minnesota River, and the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of New Ulm.

Founded

Founded in 1854 by German immigrants of the Chicago Land Society under Frederick Beinhorn, joined in 1856 by a second group from Cincinnati under Wilhelm Pfaender, and named for Ulm in Wurttemberg. 1
