Origin from 1916
The Statement of Fundamental Truths is the confession of faith of the Assemblies of God USA, setting out sixteen essential doctrines that the denomination describes as heavily based on other evangelical confessions but distinctly Pentecostal. Of the sixteen articles, four are treated as core beliefs because of the role they play in evangelism and in building believers and the church: salvation, baptism in the Holy Spirit, divine healing, and the second coming of Christ. The statement was originally adopted in 1916 and was revised in 1961, and the denomination describes it as having undergone several changes in wording since its original adoption while remaining substantially the same in content.
