Origin from 1529
Luther's Large Catechism is a catechism written by Martin Luther and published in April 1529, combining Luther's own instructional writing with compiled Christian canonical texts. It was addressed particularly to clergy, to help them teach their congregations, and to fathers, to help them instruct their households, and it is divided into five parts covering the Ten Commandments, the Apostles' Creed, the Lord's Prayer, Holy Baptism and the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Along with related documents it was published in the Book of Concord in 1580, and it remains one of the confessional standards of Lutheranism.
