Origin from 1980
The 28 Fundamental Beliefs are the theological core of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, adopted by the General Conference as 27 beliefs in 1980 and expanded to 28 with the addition of a belief on growing in Christ in 2005. The church describes them not as a mandatory creed but as a description of its official teaching, stating that Adventists accept the Bible as their only creed and hold certain fundamental beliefs to be the teaching of scripture. The beliefs are organized into six categories covering the doctrine of God, humanity, salvation, the church, Christian living and the last things, and the 2005 addition responded to requests from Adventists in developing nations for teaching on spiritual warfare.
