Phi Fa

Phi Fa, also called Phi Thaen, is the god of rain and the sky and the ruler of the heavens in Tai folk religion, worshipped as a creator god across Tai-speaking communities of Thailand and Laos. He holds a prominent place in Phra Lak Phra Lam, the Lao and Isan retelling of the Ramayana, and in the cycle of stories surrounding the culture hero Khun Borom. In Tai folk religion the word phi denotes any supernatural being, whether benevolent or malevolent, and Phi Fa stands at the benevolent, sovereign end of that spectrum, presiding over rain, sky and the created order itself.
