Canonization

This page groups figures by whether they have been through, or are considered for, an official canonization process. Wikipedia notes that canonization is "the official act of a Christian communion declaring a person worthy of public veneration and entering their name in the canon catalogue of saints." Browsing by canonization lets a visitor separate a figure formally declared a saint from one venerated only informally.

Overview
What Defines This Grouping
A comparative heading: close followers who receive and transmit a teaching without the sending role of an apostle. The relations it gathers are defined quite differently by the traditions that hold them, and the obligations of a disciple are not the same in any two of them. 2

The disciples

This group gathers disciples, followers and students of a teacher or founder who learn and transmit a tradition without necessarily holding the sending role of an apostle. The term is used across several traditions for the close circle around a master.

The browser will find the figures the atlas classes here. The entries describe each disciple's relation to their teacher and their part in carrying the teaching forward.
