All Enochian Governors

Origin 1582-1589, the governors with the Aethyrs in 1584

The ninety-one governors are the angels distributed across the thirty Enochian Aethyrs, each with a name, a sigil traced on the Great Table, and a region of the earth attributed to it. They come from the records of John Dee and Edward Kelley's scrying sessions of the 1580s, and are used in ceremonial work descended from the Golden Dawn and from Crowley.

The Ninety-One Governors

The ninety-one governors are the angels distributed across the thirty Enochian Aethyrs, three to most Aethyrs, four to a few, each with a name, a sigil traced on the Great Table (the grid of letters at the heart of the Enochian system), and a region of the earth attributed to it. They come from the scrying records of John Dee and Edward Kelley.

Each governor rules a portion of the world and is invoked as part of the working of its Aethyr, so that the ninety-one together map the whole earth onto the Enochian heavens in an elaborate correspondence of angel, place and call.

Names, sigils and lands

The governors' names and sigils are drawn from the letters of the Great Table by paths that Dee recorded, and each is linked to a geographical region in a scheme that reflects the Elizabethan map of the world. The governors are among the most detailed features of the Enochian system and are used in its practice alongside the calls of the Aethyrs.

The atlas gives each governor its Aethyr, its name and sigil, and its attributed region. The Aethyrs the governors are distributed among are treated in their own category, within Ceremonial & Esoteric Magic.
