Mormon

Prophets

Mormon is believed by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Community of Christ to be a prophet-historian of the Nephites, one of four groups, with the Lamanites, Jaredites and Mulekites, that the Book of Mormon describes as settling the ancient Americas. According to the Book of Mormon he engraved an abridgement of his people's history on golden plates, and by its chronology he lived in the fourth century AD. As a narrator he presents himself as a redactor, quoting and paraphrasing other writers. The atlas records him as the compiler and internal author of the books credited to him within that tradition.
