Founding Revelations of the Baha i Faith

The founding revelations of the Baha i Faith are the sequence of events Baha i tradition and reference works identify as the origin of the religion in nineteenth century Persia. The Declaration of the Bab, in 1844, announced a new prophetic messenger and a station later understood as forerunner to a greater revelation. The Revelation in the Siyah Chal, a Tehran prison, is described in Baha i sources as the moment Baha u llah first received the sense of his own prophetic mission. The Declaration of Baha u llah at Ridvan, in a garden outside Baghdad, is marked in Baha i tradition as the public announcement of that mission and is treated as the founding moment of the religion itself. Baha i reference works present the three events as a connected sequence rather than separate or competing claims.
