Art produced in the Greek-speaking world from the Geometric period of the ninth century BCE through the Hellenistic period ending with the Roman conquest of the final Hellenistic kingdoms in the first century BCE, spanning temple sculpture, freestanding votive and cult statuary, and painted pottery in black-figure and red-figure technique. Attic workshops in Athens produced the best documented body of painted vases, many signed by their potters and painters and depicting mythological narrative alongside daily life; the Archaic period, to about 480 BCE, gives way to the Classical period's idealized naturalism and then to the more dynamic Hellenistic style exemplified by large public sculptural programs such as the Pergamon Altar. Divinity Atlas artworks placed in this group are Greek-made objects, whether painted vases, terracotta votive figurines, or marble and bronze sculpture, dated and attributed by their holding museum to a documented Greek workshop, period, or find context within this span, distinct from later Roman-made copies of Greek originals and from post-antique European revivals of Greek myth and form.
