Chinese and Japanese Underworlds

The underworlds of East Asia: Diyu and its Ten Courts, the Chinese Huangquan and Fengdu, the city of the dead, and the Japanese Yomi. A realm belongs here when its cited article describes a land of the dead of China or Japan. It excludes Indic hells. Examples in the atlas include Diyu, Huangquan, Fengdu, The Ten Courts of Diyu and Yomi. The Chinese courts of the dead and the Japanese land of Yomi were linked in the old sources through the idea of a road to the dead beneath the earth.
