Home›Herbs›Evergreen Shrubby HerbsGroupEvergreen Shrubby HerbsAromatic herbs that grow as small woody shrubs and keep their leaves through the winter, including rosemary, sage, thyme, hyssop, rue and wintergreen, whose scent and lasting green made them the standard plants of temple gardens, kitchens and apothecaries. A plant belongs here when its cited plant database page calls it an evergreen shrub. It excludes the herbaceous perennials, which die back to the ground each winter, and the annual and biennial herbs. Their woody stems are what separate them from the softer perennial herbs, and they are usually cut back in spring and propagated from cuttings.Browse BySourcesComments (0)Reader Challenges (0)Browse ByAll Evergreen Shrubby HerbsEvergreen Shrubby Herbs7 entriesEvergreen Shrubby HerbsFilter Results7 entriesElement CorrespondenceAllAir (1)Fire (3)Water (2)Origin RegionAllBrazil (1)Europe (3)Mediterranean Basin (3)North America (1)The Andes (1)Traditional AilmentsAllOil rubbed on aching joints to ease pain and inflammation (1)Used for the head and brain, faintness, and the heart (1)Used to clear the chest and lungs of phlegm (1)Used to strengthen the lungs and ease the cough (1)Ruling PlanetAllJupiter (2)Mars (1)Moon (1)Sun (2)Venus (1)Native To RegionAllEurope (3)Mediterranean Basin (3)North America (1)The Andes (1)Used In PracticeAllEthnobotany (1)Herbalism (Wortcunning) (2)Plant Medicine (Entheogenic Practice) (1)Ritually Used InAllBritish Isles and Gaul (3)Greece (1)Iberia and Southern France (2)The Andes (1)The Levant (1)Western Europe (3)Sacred ToAllPachamama (1)Humoral temperamentAllCooling, moistening, and soothing to the fluids of the body (1)Expansive, nourishing, and kindly to the liver and the blood (2)Soothing, softening, and beautifying (1)Warming, vitalising, and heart-strengthening (2)Plant kindAllEvergreen Shrubby Herbs (7)Part usedAllFlower (2)Leaf (5)Whole Plant (1)Show ResultsBrowseCompareSelect all 7RosemaryHerbs7 linksWintergreenHerbs4 linksThymeHerbs7 linksSageHerbs6 linksHyssopHerbs8 linksRueHerbs8 linksCocaHerbs10 linksSourcesPlants For A Future: Rosmarinus officinalis (plant database entry)Plants For A FutureHas Member: Rosemary, Physical CharacteristicsQuote, Has Member: Rosemary, Physical CharacteristicsRosmarinus officinalis is an evergreen Shrub growing to 1.5 m (5ft) by 1.5 m (5ft) at a medium rate.View the SourcePlants For A Future: Gaultheria procumbens (plant database entry)Plants For A FutureHas Member: Wintergreen, Physical CharacteristicsQuote, Has Member: Wintergreen, Physical CharacteristicsGaultheria procumbens is an evergreen Shrub growing to 0.2 m (0ft 8in) by 1 m (3ft 3in) at a medium rate.View the SourcePlants For A Future: Thymus vulgaris (plant database entry)Plants For A FutureHas Member: Thyme, Physical CharacteristicsQuote, Has Member: Thyme, Physical CharacteristicsThymus vulgaris is an evergreen Shrub growing to 0.2 m (0ft 8in) by 0.3 m (1ft) at a medium rate.View the SourcePlants For A Future: Salvia officinalis (plant database entry)Plants For A FutureHas Member: Sage, Physical CharacteristicsQuote, Has Member: Sage, Physical CharacteristicsSalvia officinalis is an evergreen Shrub growing to 0.6 m (2ft) by 0.6 m (2ft in) at a medium rate.View the SourcePlants For A Future: Hyssopus officinalis (plant database entry)Plants For A FutureHas Member: Hyssop, Physical CharacteristicsQuote, Has Member: Hyssop, Physical CharacteristicsHyssopus officinalis is an evergreen Shrub growing to 0.6 m (2ft) by 0.6 m (2ft in) at a fast rate.View the SourcePlants For A Future: Ruta graveolens (plant database entry)Plants For A FutureHas Member: Rue, Physical CharacteristicsQuote, Has Member: Rue, Physical CharacteristicsRuta graveolens is an evergreen Shrub growing to 0.5 m (1ft 8in) by 0.5 m (1ft 8in) at a medium rate.View the SourcePlants For A Future: Erythroxylum coca (plant database entry)Plants For A FutureHas Member: Coca, Physical CharacteristicsQuote, Has Member: Coca, Physical CharacteristicsErythroxylum coca is an evergreen Shrub growing to 1.5 m (5ft) by 1.5 m (5ft) at a medium rate.View the SourceComments (0)No comments yet.
