Peoples whose traditional religion had declined, nearly lapsed or gone dormant and is now the subject of active, ongoing revival by descendant or successor communities. This differs from a religion reconstructed from historical sources after a genuine break, grouped instead under reconstructed and openly practised traditions, in that some thread of living practice or memory persisted through the decline rather than being fully reassembled from the outside. A people whose tradition never seriously declined, and so needed no revival, belongs instead under living traditions in varied local forms.
