Home›Core Tenets›Sacred HistoryGroupSacred HistoryCore tenets that state what the tradition holds actually happened: a founding event, a divine intervention in history, a covenant made at a particular moment, or the reality of a miracle or historical episode central to the faith. This includes tenets asserting the historicity of an event such as an exodus, a revelation event, a resurrection or a covenant-making, as distinct from tenets about what that event means theologically. A tenet about the ongoing meaning or doctrinal consequence of such an event, rather than the historical claim that it occurred, is better read alongside the doctrine it grounds, such as salvation and liberation or the nature of the divine.FactsBrowse BySourcesComments (0)Reader Challenges (0)FactsComparisonCultural OriginWell-attestedAncient Greek 1Browse ByAll Sacred HistorySacred History8 entriesSacred HistoryFilter Results8 entriesStatus Within the TraditionAllBinding, without a formal definition (5)Defined and binding within this tradition (2)Rejected, or not held, within this tradition (2)Standard teaching, not formally defined (2)The mainstream position, not formally binding (1)Origin Period Start YearAll700 (1)874 (1)1854 (1)Affirmation OfAllResurrection (1)Category of BeliefAllCore Tenets (2)Cosmological Beliefs (3)TraditionAllAfrican Methodist Episcopal Church (1)African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church (1)Ahmadiyya (1)Alawites (1)Alevism (1)Amish (1)Anabaptism (1)Anglican Communion (1)Anglicanism (1)Armenian Apostolic Church (1)Assyrian Church of the East (1)Baptist (1)Calvinism (Reformed) (1)Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (1)Church of Cyprus (1)Church of England (1)Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) (1)Church of Greece (1)Church of Ireland (1)Church of Scotland (1)Church of Sweden (1)Church of the Nazarene (1)Churches of Christ (1)Community of Christ (1)Coptic Orthodoxy (1)Disciples of Christ (1)Dutch Reformed Church (1)Eastern Orthodoxy (1)Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople (1)Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church (1)Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (1)Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (1)Evangelicalism (1)Free Methodist Church (1)Georgian Orthodox Church (1)Global Methodist Church (1)Greek Orthodox Church (1)Jodo Shinshu (1)Latter-day Saints (Mormonism) (1)Lutheranism (1)Maronite Church (2)Mennonites (1)Methodism (1)Moravian Church (1)National Baptist Convention of America (1)Nichiren (1)Nichiren Shoshu (1)Old Believers (1)Oriental Orthodoxy (1)Parsi Zoroastrianism (1)Pentecostalism (1)Presbyterianism (1)Progressive National Baptist Convention (1)Protestantism (1)Pure Land (1)Quakerism (Religious Society of Friends) (1)Roman Catholicism (2)Romanian Orthodox Church (1)Russian Orthodox Church (1)Serbian Orthodox Church (1)Sethianism (1)Seventh-day Adventism (1)Shia (Twelver) (1)Soka Gakkai (1)The Episcopal Church (1)The United Methodist Church (1)Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (2)Ukrainian Orthodox Church (1)Vaishnavism (1)Wesleyan Church (1)SubjectAllSacred history: what happened (8)ObligationAllObligatory (2)Show ResultsBrowseCompareSelect all 8The resurrection of ChristCore Tenets64 linksThe Immaculate Conception and bodily Assumption of MaryCore Tenets4 linksJesus survived the crucifixionCore Tenets1 linkDescended from Zoroastrians who migrated to IndiaCore Tenets1 linkSeth Is the Ancestor of a Saved Race and a RevealerCore Tenets1 linkThe Twelve Imams and the occultation of the MahdiCosmological Beliefs6 linksThe avatars of Vishnu (dashavatara)Cosmological Beliefs2 linksMappo, the latter age of the decline of the DharmaCosmological Beliefs5 linksSources1.
