Sacred Months (Islamic Months)

The four sacred months of the Islamic calendar, Muharram, Rajab, Dhu al-Qadah and Dhu al-Hijjah, during which warfare is forbidden. The rule predates Islam in Arabia and was affirmed in the Quran, and the months carry a special weight of devotion. Muslims regard these months as a time for added worship and restraint from wrongdoing, and two of them mark the pilgrimage season and the beginning of the new year. Members placed here so far include Muharram, Rajab, Dhu al-Hijjah.
