The Digambar Ani Akhara, also called Shri Digambar Ani Akhara, is a Vaishnava monastic order and one of the three Bairagi, or Vaishnava, akharas recognized alongside the Shaivite orders at the Kumbh Mela. It was established in Ayodhya, tradition holding it to be more than five hundred years old, and its headquarters now sits in Sabarkantha, Gujarat, with monasteries and temples in numerous locations across India. Members are devoted to Vishnu, wear white in contrast to the ash worn by Shaivite sadhus, keep matted hair and mark their foreheads with the Vaishnava urdhvapundra tilak, and the order counts a large population of Vaishnav saints and ascetics among its ranks.
