Azar Kayvan (born between about 1529 and 1533, died between about 1609 and 1618) was the Zoroastrian high priest of Istakhr and a gnostic philosopher. Born in Fars, Iran, he later emigrated to Patna in the Mughal Empire during the reign of Emperor Akbar. A member of the Sepasian community, he founded a Zoroastrian school known as the Ishraqiyyun, or Illuminationists, which showed features of Sufi Muslim influence; the school became known as the Kis-e-Abadi, or Abadi sect, also called Azarkeivanian.
