Bede Griffiths, born Alan Richard Griffiths and also known by the end of his life as Swami Dayananda, meaning bliss of compassion, was a British Catholic priest and Benedictine monk who lived from 1906 to 1993. He lived in ashrams in South India, became a noted missionary, and was part of the Christian Ashram Movement.
