Pavel Alexandrovich Florensky was a Russian Orthodox theologian, priest, philosopher, mathematician, physicist, electrical engineer, inventor and polymath, regarded by some as a folk saint and neomartyr, who lived from 1882 to 1937. During the later twentieth century statements appeared suggesting the Russian Orthodox Church had recognized him as a saint, though it was later firmly stated that no such decision had been made.
