Sudharmaswami, also called Sudharman, lived from 607 BCE to 507 BCE by the traditional reckoning and was the fifth ganadhara, or chief disciple, of Mahavira, the last Jain tirthankara. All the current Jain acharyas and monks follow his monastic line, and his rule is the one the Jain monastic community still keeps. He is recorded here as a historical figure of the Jain tradition so that scriptures connected with his name can be linked to the person.
