The Disablot (sacrifice to the disir) honoured the disir, female guardian and ancestral spirits, at a rite recorded in the Ynglinga saga and Heimskringla as a great autumn or early winter assembly held at the Temple of Uppsala, drawing worshippers from across the surrounding region. A related, smaller scale private or family observance of the same name is attested in saga literature as a household rite performed by women of the family.
