Monastic Dress

The habit and associated dress of monks and nuns, distinct from the vestments of clergy who serve outside a monastic community. Monastic dress typically marks a vow of poverty, obedience or renunciation rather than a liturgical function, and its cut and colour often identify a specific order rather than a tradition as a whole.
