An ecumenical Christian community founded in Glasgow in 1938 by the Church of Scotland minister George MacLeod, who led unemployed workers and trainee ministers in rebuilding the ruined medieval Iona Abbey on the Scottish island of Iona. The Community since trains people for ministry and social action, produces worship material used across the world church, and campaigns on peace, justice and poverty, from its base on Iona and in Glasgow.
