The Menzil Community is a branch of the Naqshbandiyya-Khalidiyya Sufi order, named after the village of Menzil in Adiyaman, Turkey, where it originated. It was founded by Mehmet Rasit Erol around 1980, in the aftermath of that year's Turkish military coup, and grew rapidly in part because of its reputation as a religious order supportive of the state, later expanding into Ankara and Istanbul and becoming one of the largest and fastest-growing religious orders in Turkey, with charitable foundations and educational initiatives alongside its religious activity.
