The hymn to Hiranyagarbha, the golden germ or golden womb. Every verse ends with the same question, which the final verse answers by naming Prajapati; that last verse is generally held to be a later addition, so the hymn as first composed asked a question it did not answer. Griffith's stray hyphen at the end of the second line is in the printed text.
