Mediterranean Basin

Also Known As Mediterranean region · Mediterranean
Europe

The Mediterranean Basin, also called the Mediterranean region, is the region of lands around the Mediterranean Sea that mostly have a Mediterranean climate, with mild to cool, rainy winters and warm to hot, dry summers. The source explains that this climate supports characteristic Mediterranean forests, woodlands and scrub vegetation. That is why the atlas uses the entry mainly for the native range of herbs, trees and flowers that grow around that sea, and for rites and traditions the record places in the lands around it without naming a single country.
