Munkacs Hasidism is a Hasidic sect within Haredi Judaism, comprised mostly of Hungarian Hasidic Jews. It was founded and led by the Polish-born Grand Rebbe Shlomo Spira, rabbi of the town of Strzyzow from 1858 to 1882 and of Munkacs from 1882 to 1893. Members of the congregation are mainly referred to as Munkacs or Munkatsher Hasidim, named after the then-Hungarian town of Munkatsh where the dynasty was established.
