The Shattari, or Shattariyya, are members of a Sufi order founded in the fifteenth century by Abdullah Shattar in Khorasan, before the order immigrated to India. The word Shattar translates to lightning-quick or fast-goer, naming a spiritual system meant to lead swiftly to a state of completion; unlike other Sufi traditions, the Shattariyya do not subscribe to the concept of fana, the annihilation of the ego.
