Zahidiyya

The Zahidiyya, or Zahidi order, is a Sufi order and hereditary spiritual lineage tracing its silsila from Abu Ishaq of Kazerun to Junayd of Baghdad. It was introduced to the Indian subcontinent by Shihabuddin Kabir Zahidi, known as the Imam of the Kaaba, who migrated to Meerut with his son Fakhruddin Khudadad Zahidi around 1260, and it gained influence during the Delhi Sultanate when sultans including Qutbuddin Mubarak Shah built khanqahs for its leaders. A later branch under Badruddin Badre Alam Zahidi extended the order into Bengal and Bihar, from where he propagated Islam across eastern Bengal, Arakan, Burma and Tripura.
