A kyoshi is an ordained Konkokyo minister, serving at one of the religion's roughly 1,550 churches and performing toritsugi, the practice of receiving a visitor's trouble in person and conveying it in prayer to Tenchi Kane no Kami on their behalf, the same mediating role the founder himself first took up. As of a December 2012 count the religion had about 3,909 kyoshi in active service.
