A passista is a Kardecist Spiritism practitioner trained to administer the passe, a laying on of hands understood to transmit healing vital fluid from benevolent spirits to the recipient, a role distinct from the medium proper (who channels spirit communication) and institutionalised as a standard volunteer function at Spiritist centres, particularly prominent in Brazilian Spiritism.
