This page groups plants by the region their traditional use is first recorded in. Wikipedia notes that "written evidence of herbal remedies dates back over 5,000 years to the Sumerians, who compiled lists of plants." Browsing by origin region lets a visitor trace a plant's recorded use back to where it was first written down.
