The wording of the Sabian symbol for this degree is not reproduced here. The phrasing in general circulation is Dane Rudhyar's, from An Astrological Mandala (1973), and stays in copyright until 2069. The atlas has withheld its own reading of the degree along with it, because that reading followed the copyrighted image closely enough to stand in for it. What remains is the degree itself, its sign, its decan and its term, which are facts about the zodiac and belong to nobody.

A Very Straight Road
It falls in the third decan of Taurus (degrees 21 to 30), and is Taurus's twenty eighth degree. Its decan is ruled by Saturn rather than Venus, which colors the degree with something Taurus does not supply on its own. The narrower term division belongs to Mars, a still finer layer of rulership laid across the sign and decan. As a fixed earth sign, Taurus values what endures over what merely begins, and prizes steadiness above speed. Before Jones and Wheeler ever met, the Welsh astrologer Charubel had already published a complete set of 360 degree images in 1898.
For this degree, his book pictures a very straight road; an interminable perspective. This degree's origin lies in 1925, in Balboa Park, San Diego, where Marc Edmund Jones and the clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler drew all 360 cards blind, one at a time, in no planned order. Jones did not publish the results until 1953. The interpretation most widely read since then is Dane Rudhyar's 1973 rewrite, An Astrological Mandala, and because that text is still under copyright it is not quoted here. None of this is meant as prophecy; it is a way of describing where, precisely, this degree sits inside Taurus's larger pattern. Element and quality carry through every degree of Taurus: it is a fixed earth sign, and this degree inherits that basic temperament even as the decan and term add their own note.
Taurus 28: The Wider Degree Tradition
Individual degree meaning is a later layer over a much older, planet only system. Vettius Valens, writing in Greek around the year 175, divided each sign into three ten degree faces under a rotating planetary sequence, and this degree stays in Taurus's third decan, ruled by Saturn rather than by Venus, while Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos moves this degree into Mars's bound, the finer division parting from the decan above it near the sign's close. Neither writer pictured a degree, only ruled it. A complete run of individual degree pictures first survives whole in 1494, in Johannes Angelus's Astrolabium Planum, a Latin work safely public domain, though its old English translations are not.
The next complete English set is Welsh minister John Thomas's, writing as Charubel, whose 1898 book gives this degree a very straight road, an interminable perspective stretching further than the eye can resolve, a picture of distance rather than destination. Marc Edmund Jones and the clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler produced a separate image for this same degree in 1925, now generally read through Dane Rudhyar's 1973 restatement. In practice, this degree is mostly used to time events through a progressed Sun, Moon or angle reaching it exactly, or to flag two charts sharing it in synastry.
