Ayabe, in Kyoto Prefecture, is the spiritual headquarters of Omoto and the hometown of the foundress Deguchi Nao. Its sacred precinct, Baisho-en, is the site of the religion's major seasonal festivals, distinct from the administrative centre the movement later built at nearby Kameoka.
