Reikai Monogatari, Tales of the Spirit World, is Omoto's second scripture, an eighty one volume work Onisaburo Deguchi dictated across two periods, 1921 to 1926 and 1933 to 1934, either side of the years he spent imprisoned following the movement's first state suppression. It sets out the creation of the universe, the nature and activity of the gods, the origin of Omoto and the coming reconstruction of the world into a divine kingdom, alongside allegorical narrative drawn from Onisaburo's own ascetic experience on Mount Takakuma in 1898. It stands alongside Deguchi Nao's Ofudesaki as one of Omoto's two scriptures, the founding revelation and its later systematic elaboration.
