This is the General Conference of Seventh day Adventists' own statement of its Twenty Eight Fundamental Beliefs, adopted in 1980 and amended since, cited here in its current standing form. As the denomination's own confessional document, voted by its own General Conference, it is the correct and authoritative source for what Seventh day Adventists officially confess, and no outside account can substitute for the church's own wording. Its limit is exactly that authority: it states doctrine as the institution holds it, not how individual congregations or members actually practice or interpret it in daily life, so a claim about lived Adventist practice, as against official belief, needs a separate ethnographic or sociological source.
