An open letter published by the American Humanist Association, dated 12 July 2006, stating that Falun Gong founder Li Hongzhi has explicitly condemned homosexuality and stated that gay people would be eliminated by the gods, citing the San Jose Mercury News as its source for that account and independently citing a translated passage of the second volume of Falun Gong's primary text, Zhuan Falun, as corroborating the same teaching.

Reliability Tier2
An independent secular organization's own public statement, published five years after and independently of the Mercury News report it partly relies on, adding its own citation of the underlying primary text; used to corroborate rather than replace the newspaper account. NotesCited for Falun Gong's sexuality-position and its detail, corroborating the San Jose Mercury News.
