Anti-Defamation League Hate Symbols Database

The Anti-Defamation League's Hate Symbols Database, published under the name "Hate on Display," is the League's own continuously maintained catalogue of symbols it has documented as adopted by extremist or hate movements, each entry credited to the organization itself rather than to a named researcher. This atlas separately records two individual entries from this same database, on the sonnenrad and the valknot, each one an entry in the same continuously maintained catalogue rather than an independent study, so citing this general record alongside one of those entries, or citing two of those entries together, for the same claim is the League's own institutional voice appearing more than once, not two independent lines of evidence. Use it for whether a symbol is currently catalogued as a hate symbol and for the League's own stated account of its adopted meaning; it is an advocacy organization's working reference for public identification, not a neutral academic history of the symbol, so a claim about a symbol's older or unrelated meaning, such as the valknot's life in Norse funerary art centuries before its appropriation, needs a source produced outside this database as well.
