A Crosslight report, published 23 October 2017 by the Uniting Church in Australia's Victoria and Tasmania synod newspaper, on the revision of abuse figures the Church had given the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse for its institutional review hearing. An original figure of 2,504 allegations was revised down to 430 confirmed allegations of child sexual abuse made to the Church's six synods from 22 June 1977, when the Uniting Church was formed, to 3 March 2017, after the Commission asked all six synods to reanalyse and reclassify the underlying data and distinguish allegations from inquiries, complaints and findings. Of those 430 allegations, 102 led to formal redress claims or civil litigation; 83 claimants received settlements totalling 12.35 million dollars.

Reliability Tier3
Reliability tier 3: the Church's own synod newspaper, an interested party reporting factually on the Royal Commission's own published figures rather than an independent outlet; used here for the revised allegation, claims and settlement totals, which are the Commission's own numbers as the Church itself reported them. NotesTier 3: the source for the 2,504-to-430 figure revision and the redress claim and settlement totals; an interested-party account of the Commission's own hearing, read alongside Koffels' independent summary of the companion Knox Grammar School inquiry.
