Dutch Reformed Church (Wikipedia)

Wikipedia

Wikipedia's article on the Dutch Reformed Church (Nederlandse Hervormde Kerk), community-edited. Reliable for the church's founding at the first Synod of 23 Dutch Reformed leaders, held in October 1571 in the German city of Emden, which established presbyterian church government for congregations still barred from meeting openly in the Habsburg Netherlands; and for the church ceasing to exist as a separate body in 2004, when it united with the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Kingdom of the Netherlands to form the Protestant Church in the Netherlands, then numbering two million members in 1,350 congregations. The article does not give a day-level date for the 2004 merger, which is why a second, more specific source is used for that date. Reliability Tier
3
Community-edited reference page, tier 3, on well documented Dutch and South African church history. Used for the 1571 Synod of Emden founding and the fact and year of the 2004 merger; the merger's exact day is drawn from the more specific Protestant Church in the Netherlands source instead.
Notes
Used for the Dutch Reformed Church's own 1571 founding and its 2004 end as a separate body.
