Lambeth Conference Planners Revise Calls Document, Acknowledging Differences on Same-Sex Marriage (Episcopal News Service)

Dated 26 July 2022. Reports that Lambeth Conference planners revised the draft Lambeth Call on Human Dignity to move away from language seeking a reaffirmation of the 1998 Lambeth Resolution I.10 opposing same-sex marriage, toward language acknowledging there is no consensus across all forty-two of the Anglican Communion's provinces on the legitimacy of blessings and marriage rites for same-sex couples. Quotes the revised Call as still affirming that all baptized, believing and faithful persons, regardless of sexual orientation, are full members of the Body of Christ, and quotes the bishops as remaining committed to listening and walking together to the maximum possible degree, despite deep disagreement on these issues. The Anglican Communion's own document library page for Resolution I.10 could not be reached, and the Lambeth Conference's own PDF of the revised Call could not be read as text, so this secondary account, which quotes the primary documents' own language directly, is used instead.
