History of the PNBC (pnbc.org)

This is the Progressive National Baptist Convention's own history page, published on the denomination's official website, describing its own founding and institutional history. As the organization's own account of itself it is the correct and authoritative source for what the PNBC says about its own founding, leadership and self understanding, comparable to any denomination's own official history page. Its limit is exactly that self authorship, an institutional self account rather than an independent historian's study, so it can be trusted for what the convention states about itself while a claim about its place within the wider civil rights era history of Black Baptist churches, or a claim that requires outside verification, needs an independent scholarly source in addition.
