This is Russell Targ and Harold E. Puthoff's own paper, published in Nature in 1974, reporting their remote-viewing experiments conducted at the Stanford Research Institute, in which participants attempted to describe distant or shielded targets under claimed sensory isolation. Its significance is that it is a primary published record of the specific experiments and results the authors themselves reported, appearing in a major peer-reviewed journal, which is itself part of the controversy surrounding it. Its limit is substantial, the paper's methodology and statistical handling were sharply criticized by other scientists after publication, and its results have not been independently replicated to the broader scientific community's satisfaction, so a claim treating its results as established evidence for the phenomenon, rather than as a contested and widely disputed published study, should be checked against that critical literature.
