Liber Null & Psychonaut

Peter J. Carroll's Liber Null and Psychonaut is a foundational primary text of chaos magic, written by one of the tradition's originators to lay out its central premise, that belief itself is a tool to be adopted and discarded at will rather than a fixed metaphysical commitment. As the movement's own founding voice, it is the strongest possible source for what chaos magic practitioners actually hold and practice, not a neutral outside description of it. It makes no claim to be empirically validated and its efficacy claims sit outside what any historical or scientific method can test, which the tradition itself generally accepts as beside the point. Cite it for chaos magic's own self-understanding and practice, not as evidence that its techniques produce the effects it describes, and read its instructional tone as an internal manual for practitioners rather than an outside evaluation of the tradition.
