Ling Shu, or The Spiritual Pivot, Wu Jing-Nuan's 1993 translation from the Taoist Center, distributed by the University of Hawai'i Press, renders the second part of the Huang Di Nei Jing, one of the earliest Chinese treatises on acupuncture. Its strength is that it is a direct translation of the classic's own account of wei qi's daily circuit and the role of the Heel Vessels. Its limit is that it is a primary medical classic in translation, not a modern clinical or scholarly commentary on how its claims hold up against current physiology.

Facts
Assessment
Reliability Tier
1
Reliability tier 1: a scholarly translation distributed by the University of Hawai'i Press, rendering a primary medical classic directly, the standard form for citing the classic's own account.
Notes
Translation of the Ling Shu (Spiritual Pivot), the second part of the Huang Di Nei Jing, one of the earliest treatises on acupuncture. Scope note: covers the classic's own account of wei qi's daily circuit through yang by day and yin by night and the Heel Vessels as its crossing route, the claim the atlas attributes to "the Spiritual Pivot" for the Yang Heel Vessel's role in sleep-wake disorders.
